Last week, Betty Fairfax High School hosted the first Pride and Unity Summit! This was a day-long conference with over 100 LGBTQ+ students and allies across the Phoenix Union High School District. We had a full day with guest speakers, workshops, raffles, dancing, and plenty of fun. The conference was focused on providing support, advocacy, and social space for our students.
This conference is the culmination of 8 months of planning with Gay-Straight Alliance clubs across the district and partnerships with district leadership. Teachers throughout the conference mentioned that the conference was the first time that their students felt welcomed and safe in an educational setting.
Thanks to our generous donors, our team provided over a hundred t-shirts to the conference where students got to draw the colors of the rainbow that represented their identity. Support My Club is proud to be able to help fund this project and continue to ensure that students have a safe place to be themselves on campus.
