SMC Bulletin Board: April

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our 12th annual Philanthropy Bar last week. We welcomed over 100 guests to learn from and interact with students from a dozen high schools across the valley. We made pinch pots with North High School's Clay Club, enjoyed the music of Agua Fria Band, watched Phoenix Coding Academy's robots on the move--and of course, raised thousands of dollars that went directly towards the needs of our participating clubs!

If you missed the event, we hope you'll join us next year. And don't worry--this newsletter is packed with other ways to impact our students and their clubs!

We are so appreciative of your support! Please check out the event pictures here.

SMC Student of the Year: Anasofia Carranza

We are thrilled to honor SMC's first-ever Student of Year, Anasofia Carranza of Agua Fria High School Band. Anasofia was presented with this award by her band sponsor, Jeremy Garcia, at Philanthropy Bar.

She has served as a section leader, band historian, and drum major, in addition to helping grow the trumpet section from one of the smallest sections to one of the largest.

She embodies leadership for the entire band, knowing that she must invest in her bandmates and see the band as a mirror of herself and her character.

She is attending the University of Arizona next year with the goal of becoming a high school band director.

Congratulations, Anasofia!

SMC Donor Spotlight: Kate Gallego

We are highlighting Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego and the tremendous impact she's had on our organization this month!

Mayor Gallego is a long-time supporter of both Philanthropy Bar and Support My Club. She joined us this year to deliver opening remarks in honor of Arizona Gives Day where she shared about the impact extracurricular activities like student government had on her life.

Donations made here will go towards the general pool of funding for student needs.
