Organization: ASU Preparatory Academy - South Campus
WHAT: 5 gallon bucket of joint compound
WHY:Our art club is currently learning about sculpture techniques and media. Joint compound, while normally associated with patching drywall, is a plaster compound. Students will be creating small sculptures from cardboard, wire, and found objects, and once the "skeleton" is built, students will completely cover their pieces with roughly an inch of the drywall compound. This will create a full white, thick, and professional surface to their sculptures that will allow them to sand and paint their final pieces. This is a great opportunity for student to learn basic sculptural techniques and experiment with an unusual media!
