Wrestling - Sunnyslope High - By Created Date: Oldest to Newest
Sunnyslope High School competes at the Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Novice/Freshman Level. Wrestlers compete during the winter time and work throughout the season to qualify at sectionals so they can wrestle at state. The objective of wrestling is to pin the opponent. A scoring system is used in order to determine the winner in case a pin does not occur. Either shoulders, or both scapulae (shoulder blades), are held to the mat for two consecutive seconds for a pin or fall to occur.
Now that we are done with the technical stuff, let's talk about what wrestling does for the individuals that partake in it. It builds pride in the work that they do, it builds character and integrity in themselves as well as their beliefs. It shows that in life, if you want something you need to develop a plan and work toward your goal because nothing is ever given to us.
