The National Art Honor Society is composed of a group of young students who either excel in the visual arts or have a very strong interest in bettering their lives through the arts. To be considered for membership, a student must have completed a semester of art in which they received a grade of a B or better.
The purpose of our chapter is to inspire and recognize those students who have shown outstanding ability in art while fostering excellence and a dedicated spirit to the pursuit of art. In the process, students strive to bring art to the attention of the school and community by increasing an awareness of art in relation to other areas of the school curriculum and a further aesthetic awareness in all aspects of the school's total program.
Recently, student club members participated in an art exhibition at the Wolfswinkel Education Center located at the Phoenix Art Museum. We had an opening reception featuring the artwork of these young students as well as other students who excel in the arts.
Because we are a community service oriented group, students have decided to submit selected artworks for possible display at Select Specialty Hospital located in St. Joseph's hospital.
Students are currently involved in making necklaces to donate to the Phoenix Union Education Foundation's GALA event where money is raised for student scholarships.
