He's an AVID learner! | Meet Student of the Week, Edwin Meza-Duarte

Sophomore Edwin Meza-Duarte has contributed over 300 community service hours through AVID club! Betty Fairfax HS, Phoenix Union HS District- Edwin says he joined AVID club to help prepare for college. Through his experiences with AVID, he's learned how to apply for professional programs, give a formal presentation and get involved in the community. He is proud of serving over 300 hours of community service, and says, "These hours are really beneficial when applying to colleges." Welcome to the first edition of "Student of the Week", where we highlight outstanding students in clubs/teams across Arizona! Meet Eileen, President of Spartan Paws, Camelback High School's unique Animal Therapy Club. Spartan Paws provide a service learning opportunity for students by working with Service Dogs in Training. Club members will enhance the lives of people with disabilities by helping to socialize service dogs in training. Club members learn practical job-related skills related to the care of dogs and facilitate animal assisted art therapy in student classrooms.
