Setting The Stage For 2021
As you can imagine, this year has been a challenging one for our students, our organization, and the nonprofit sector. As the Board Chair and the Treasurer, we wanted to reassure you that we have taken conservative steps to ensure a durable balance of revenue and expenses that allows our organization to survive these hard times - without losing any team members or our ability to serve students to the fullest.
The landscape of club and team activities looks a little different and the situation is dynamic from month to month. Teachers and students are still learning how to make safe participation a reality, and for many that means an increase in needs. Once valuable communal items are no longer valid for use - individual items must now be provided to ensure the safety of all participants. For example, the large orange Gatorade cooler for sports teams must now be replaced with individual player hydration options. Art supplies must now be provided for each student for in-home use. What we’ve learned now, is that the disparity between wealthy schools and Title-1 schools is more apparent than ever.
But for all the struggles, there are fabulous examples of resiliency and support of others. Like the Kingman Robotics team, who used their 3D printer and design skills to create plexiglass dividers for their fellow students and teachers and to provide classroom safety measures. We also recently paired with the Phoenix 20-30 Club to provide OVER 25,000 pieces of PPE (masks, sanitizer, and thermometers) to Phoenix clubs and teams.
Our team has been working diligently to do our part in making sure that during these hard times, students have the outlets and activities they need for physical, emotional, and mental stability. A recent article highlighting the importance of extracurricular activities during CoVid can be found Here. We are committed more than ever to providing these increasingly important opportunities for all students, regardless of their socio-economic situation.
We ask that you join us in supporting the needs of this coming semester - our end of year campaign sets the stage for 2021 success. This year provides additional options and incentives for giving* and we hope that you can be generous and contribute a tax-deductible donation before December 31 by visiting This Link.
From our board, our team, and our students and teachers -
Wishing you a very happy and safe holiday season!
