EMPLOYEE HIGHLIGHT: LUCAS DVORSCAK | HIGH SCHOOL VIOLINIST
Lucas Dvorscak is SMC’s newest AmeriCorps VISTA member! He started in June and became the first male employee. He graduated high school in 2014 from The Indiana Academy in Muncie, Indiana. Lucas played violin in the orchestra during all four years of high school and has been playing since the first grade! During his sophomore year, he was named first chair, second violin, a high honor for just his second year in high school! He remembers fondly “every year at the Christmas concert playing Sleigh Ride.”
Lucas reflects back that orchestra gave him valuable life skills like teamwork and leadership. Being first chair meant that he was in charge on the entire section. He also jokingly comments that “orchestra is harder than band!”
Not only did Lucas participate in orchestra, but he also was a member on the swim team, and was a part of the environmental club. Being heavily committed in arts, athletics, and activities, Lucas remains adamant that extracurriculars “kept him motivated” through high school and on his path to college admittance.
Lucas is the perfect example that high school clubs and teams foster a path to graduation. We are lucky to have a committed example of this on our team!
